Some hotel owners who survived the pandemic are seeing that the travel rebound may not persuade lenders to offer new credit as their debts mature. Leisure travel has improved since last year, but hotels with big meeting spaces relying on business trips and conferences are recovering more slowly due to remote meetings. While business-focused hotels can attract a few vacationers, they can’t make up for the sluggish recovery in business travel.
