Joseph Tapley has more than 30 years of hospitality industry experience, including hotel operations, finance and asset management. Joe is responsible for a portfolio of brand managed and independent hotels where he leverages his asset management, hotel finance and accounting background to identify and monetize opportunities.
Prior to joining hotelAVE, Joe was Senior Vice President of Finance at Lionstone Development where he was responsible for providing fiduciary oversight and asset management for a portfolio of lodging assets valued at $850M located in both the United States and the Caribbean, including the Ritz-Carlton South Beach (a Marriott managed hotel). Joe successfully recapitalized transactions totaling $250M of aggregate value with third party institutions as well directed return on investment initiatives for all owned assets.
While at the Gencom Group, he asset managed a portfolio of $1B, including numerous Marriott managed properties. He was responsible for identifying incremental revenue opportunities while guiding execution of these ideas by the operator. Notable other value enhancements include repositioning several restaurants of managed assets to license or lease agreements thereby improving cash flow and developing and populating tools to measure KPIs and a strategic plan to retain operator focus on owner priorities.
Joe’s operation’s experience includes Director of Finance and Hotel Controller positions at a number of Marriott International and Interstate managed Hotels.
