
Larry Mahoney has more than 25 years of hotel accounting, finance, and internal control experience in the hospitality industry. Mr. Mahoney supports the asset management team in the areas of cash flow management, analysis of property-level financial statements, balance sheet reconciliation, budgeting/forecasting, and internal control compliance.
Mr. Mahoney started his career at the property level as a controller, overseeing the finance function of five hotels, developing proformas and potential new projects. He has managed many property pre-openings and openings as well as renovations. His reorganization of staffing, accounts receivable, and general ledger reconciliations uncovered employee theft of $45,000 in purchasing and receiving.
As Director of Finance for Starwood Hotels and Resorts, Mr. Mahoney assisted 12 properties throughout the United States with month-end closing, balance sheet reconciliation, internal control, and compliance and monthly reporting at all levels as well as reducing an outstanding sales tax liability by $120K.
Prior to joining hotelAVE, he served as Task Force Director of Finance at the Westin Maui Resorts and Spa, emphasizing training finance staff on month-end closing and balance sheet reconciliation.
